What is the IEEE?

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)is a global professional association for engineers in the field of electrical engineering and information technology based in New York City. Like the VDI or the VDE, the IEEE association defines itself through its network, which serves as a platform for the interdisciplinary exchange of information. The goal of the IEEE is to advance technological innovations and, with their benefits, to serve the welfare of humanity. The difference to the VDI or VDE is its worldwide orientation.

Who is the BIEEElefeld Student Branch?

The BIEEElefeld Student Branch was founded in November 2010. With more than 80 members, it is the largest Student Branch of the IEEE not only in OWL, but in the whole of Germany. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Haubrock, who is also the Counselor of the Student Branch, started the initiative in Bielefeld. With his working group Networks and Energy Systems (AGNES), he and his colleagues organize regular activities. Members from Bielefeld, Gütersloh and Verl are now active in the Student Branch. Through a variety of activities, it is possible to participate in the globally active network.

What does the BIEEElefeld Student Branch do?

The Student Branch, as an IEEE student association, provides educational seminars and networking activities for its student members. All members can get involved in the Student Branch and provide suggestions for exciting activities or organize them themselves. Activities range from meetings between student members in smaller groups for networking, field trips to regional industry, large events with members from all over Germany and industry representatives, to evening lectures in a bar.
